Another Zero on the road and registered in the USA.....

Another Zero on the road and registered in the USA..... Its great to see that recently another Zero is now fully registered and being enjoyed on the road in the USA. This customer has now completed his Duratec powered Zero build and already covered several hundred miles and been to a car show where it attracted a lot of attention. Another Zero is currently at paint that will be back with us next month and then on the way to its new owner in the USA very soon.

We look forward to receiving more photographs from our customers in the USA out and about enjoying their Zeros and sharing more photos with you. The Zero range is available in LHD and exported worldwide, please get in touch with us and we can put you in touch with our USA Representative.

At the weekend we hosted our first Cars & Coffee event of the year here at GBS and it was great to see a few new Zero owners join us for the very first time in their newly registered Zeros and also great to hear that they have booked on to join us on our Track Day later this month. More details can be found on our GBS event page.

Always great to see and hear from customer out enjoying their Zero....

Last month this Zero was collected from the GBS Workshop that we prepared and presented for IVA. It was a Mazda based Zero kit which is now registered and being enjoyed on the road, below is the spec of this Zero Build and few words from Martin & Jane who have built the car, we look forward to them joining us next year in their Zero at our events

Mazda Zero Spec: Mazda Zero Plus Kit / Standard Chassis / ATR Throttle Bodies / 1.8 Mazda engine / ATR Suspension / Momo Quick Release Steering Boss / GBS Logo Seats / LED Style Headlights / Rear Diffuser / Boot Cover / Painted Nardo Grey with the GRP Bonnet Scoop / Registered as an age related plate.

In between the snow, ice and rain we have just managed to get our first run out after fitting the windscreen & doors. Got to say it was all we expected and more, handles perfectly, great acceleration and the sound of those throttle bodies sucking air in on acceleration is addictive. Me and the Lancashire Constabulary are probably going to get to know each other well if I’m not careful.

Massive thanks to all at GBS from the first visit through to to helping us during the build process and getting to our first run today. Fantastic company to deal with always willing to do that extra bit and this shows through the enthusiasm of all the staff we have met on this journey. Will hopefully get to one of your events at some point next year but in the meantime we both would like to wish you all the best for Christmas and the New Year.

Once again a big thank you and we both wish you well for the future.
Martin & Jane Cordeaux.

See the link below to a video we did of this build whilst it was with us in the workshop.

Customer soon to enjoy their second Zero on the road.....

We currently have a very nice Zero with us in the workshop that we recently prepared and presented for its IVA test which is owned by GBS customer Jim Burge. This is Jim’s second Zero build that he has enjoyed and Jim has kindly wrote a few words about his journey of building his two Zeros.

My GBS journey ...
So back in 2014 I made the decision to embark on my own personal challenge of building a GBS ZERO...
My years as a Ford technician became invaluable in enabling me to work through the build but with the confidence of the guys at GBS at the end of a phone to help when needed.
Build completed after 2 years and GBS White was registered and on the road in September 2016.

Lots of fun times enjoyed until I decided it was time to sell up and move on...
What a decision I would quickly regret.
So.. in July 2020, I looked into the GBS Generation 2 Ultimate Kit and decided to go again, this time with a few upgrades as this one was going to be for keeps. The kit was delivered in time for Christmas 2020.
Despite a national pandemic work progressed, this time it felt that the knowledge and experience of the first build made it even more enjoyable and rewarding.
October 2021 GBS Blue was completed and ready for the IVA test which she passed first time.
Now I have the long wait through my choice for Spring 2022 when MY22 GBS is finally registered and ready for the maiden journey..
A huge thank you to Richard, Ruth and all the team at GBS for their help and advice and always being in at the end of the phone for my endless questions..

Jim Burge
MY22 GBS ( Blue )

If you are joining us this Saturday (4th December) at our Christmas Cars & Coffee event then you will see Jim’s Zero in our Workshop. Please see more details and an update on this weekends event on our event page.

A_ME3.jpg
A_ME7.jpg

At the weekend the brand new GBS Zero Motul Edition was revealed to the public for the first time at the Silverstone Classic Show on the Motul Stand with Witham Motorsport. The Zero attracted a lot attention over the 3 days and the big reveal on the Friday really created a crowd and a lot of media attention. The car was revealed by Martin Lines, who won the competition to design the livery and Motul. On the Saturday the new Zero Motul Edition also got to make its first appearance on the track at Silverstone where it took part in the parade lap, which Martin also enjoyed the experience of being the passenger.
The whole GBS team have been involved in this special Zero build and we are all very proud of it and the whole build process and story has been captured and we are pleased to now share the video and story with you all.

We look forward to sharing more news about this special Zero, and hope that you all get to see it at some point as it will hopefully be at more events throughout the year.

More about the Zero Motul Edition and the Story…..

The project to build this unique MOTUL-EDITION GBS ZERO was formed from a special partnership with UK car manufacturer, Great British Sports Cars (GBS), Witham Motorsport and Motul. The lightweight hand-crafted sports car was built by the Nottinghamshire engineering company and from its machining of metal billets through all of the necessary turning, drilling and assembly processes, we believe this is the first car in the world to be made and run on lubricants from the same manufacturer, in this case Motul.

From cutting oils to hydraulic fluids used in the manufacturing process to make all the parts, to fluids used throughout the car, including: engine oil, gearbox oil, brake fluid, engine coolant, and greases, this car has been made to a performance standard with very special specifications. Along with its livery, chosen from a UK national design competition, the car has Motul uniquely sculpted onto, or etched into, the brake callipers, headlamp covers, interior upholstery and even the chassis itself.

The ultra-lightweight Zero sports car is powered by a 2.5 litre Ford Duratec engine, specially prepared by Neil Brown Engineering, the company that provides the motive power for the UK FIA Formula 4 championship - a series where Motul is proud to be the lubricant partner, providing the spec engine oil for all competitors. With a 240BHP unit, a dry sump oil system, ATR throttle bodies and a kerb weight of only 600kg, the Motul-Edition GBS Zero will have a power to weight ratio of almost 500BHP/Tonne, which will make it extremely rapid.

Going forward the GBS Zero Motul Edition will be used to promote Motul products and British engineering and will be seen with customers and our drivers and race teams, throughout the UK. The winner of the best design idea for the car was Martin Lines from Bedfordshire, UK, and his entry was chosen by the judging panel (made up of Motul, Witham Motorsport and GBS Directors) for its ingenious use of all the GBS Zero and Motul creative branding elements. The under 16 age category prize winner, was Kaira Milburn age 10, from Maidstone in Kent, who sent in an amazing colourful design.

As Motul UK Distributors, Witham Motorsport are the driving force behind the project. As Managing Director, Nigel Bottom explains; ”We have been supplying Motul products to Great British Sportscars for some time and, having had the chance to meet Richard (Hall) and tour the factory, I was hugely impressed by the depth of their engineering skill, by their innovative ideas and by the fact that there was potentially a great story to be told, on the start-to-finish and beyond part, that Motul plays in the construction of this GBS Zero. The idea of a Motul-Edition seemed like a logical extension of this and so we embarked on what is a truly novel venture for a lubricant brand.”

Motul has many exciting partnerships in which it is active around the world, but Silverstone’s Classic has been chosen as the venue for the car to make its public debut for a number of reasons, as Motul’s UK Business Development Manager Andy Wait explains. “We were delighted earlier this year to announce our partnership with Silverstone for The Classic. It is a huge festival of enthusiast motoring, with more than 100,000 people expected, so we wanted to make our first appearance there memorable and, therefore, to have the climax of the Motul GBS Zero initiative at Silverstone seems apt. Also, of course, the car shape has a retro look and feel to it, so it fits in with the spirit of the classic event, as well as, offering us a great chance to showcase so much of what Motul can offer to the public.”

Motul Lubricants -

Richard & Peer at GBS going through the Zero Self Build options. (October 2018).

After several emails about the Zero Self build options GBS Customer Peer Moberg then visited the GBS Factory in October 2018 where the order was placed for his Zero self build kit, Peer also came back to the UK and joined us at the Classic Motor Show in November later that year where we had a stand displaying the Zero’s and a range of parts. January 2019 we were pleased to welcome Peer back to the GBS Factory to collect his newly painted Zero and parts. Peer left with a fully loaded van of parts including a very nice 2.5l Duratec engine dressed with ATR Throttle bodies. After a long drive of 2900km behind the wheel and 4 ferries Peer made it back to Norway.

Its always nice to receive photos of Zeros being enjoyed and build update photos. We recently received this photograph from GBS Customer Chris McQueen of his newly painted Zero, which has now been fully painted in British Racing Green. We prepared and presented Chris’s Zero to IVA last year, where it can be seen here in aluminium, the full paint really does transform the Zero and is now a popular option. You can see more recently painted Zeros on our GBS Instagram.

Another Zero Ultimate Self Assembly build that we painted and delivered to GBS Customer Jim Burge end of last year is coming along very nicely and we can’t wait to see it on its wheels. This Zero will be powered by the 2.5 Duratec engine on ATR Throttle Bodies along with all the other options and upgrades that we offer including the full carbon fibre trim.

It looks like we will be seeing a lot of new Zeros that are now registered and on the road at our Cars & Coffee event that is happening next month, visit our event page for more details. Click here to send us your photographs of your Zero.

First 2021 Run Out in the Zeros..... Thank you for joining us.

Last Saturday (1st May) we enjoyed a run out in the Zero’s, where we all met at GBS in the car park to then enjoy a drive out together. The route that we planned was similar to last years run out covering around 50 miles, which was through some lovely villages and country roads finishing in a nice idyllic location in the countryside where we took the opportunity to enjoy some food. The weather was perfect for us and the rain held off, we would like to thank you all for joining us and making it such an enjoyable day.
We look forward to organising another run out in the Zeros later in the year. Join our GBS Mailing List to be kept up to date with our latest news and events.
