About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Workshop Mechanic / Car Builder to join Great British Sports Cars Ltd, based near Newark. We are a well-established name in the British sports car industry, with full in-house design, development, manufacturing, and testing capabilities.
Our work spans far beyond a typical workshop environment — from manufacturing our own vehicles to delivering diverse engineering projects ranging from one-off specials to Formula 1-related work. As we expand our team, we are looking for a motivated individual who thrives on hands-on mechanical challenges and enjoys working across a variety of vehicles, including the Great British Sports Cars Zero.
This role offers the chance to be part of an enthusiastic and dynamic workshop team where no two days are the same.
Required Skills and Attributes:
· Full UK driving licence
· Own Toolset
· Mechanical background and experience
· Experience in the automotive sector
· Experience in rebuilding vehicles
· Experience rebuilding parts
· Experience in the diligent and timely assembly of vehicles and parts
· Ability to work confidently unsupervised and as part of the team
· Ability to communicate at all levels
· Working as part of a team whilst utilizing own initiative
· Attention to detail with extremely high-quality standards
· Ability to support other team members on their projects to achieve project completion
· Good communication skills
· Attention to detail
· Ability to pick up new tasks quickly and high level of skills retention
Required Skills & Experience:
Full UK driving licence (trailer licence required)
Own toolset
Mechanical background with relevant hands-on experience
Automotive sector experience
Experience rebuilding vehicles and components
Ability to assemble vehicles and parts accurately and efficiently
Confidence working independently and as part of a team
Strong communication skills
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high standards
Ability to support team members and collaborate effectively
Quick learner with strong retention of technical skills
Personal Attributes:

Ability to work efficiently under pressure
Ability to read and understand assembly drawings
Experience or understanding of vehicle electrics, ECUs, etc.
Key Duties:
Routine servicing and vehicle maintenance
General vehicle repairs
Detailed assembly of vehicles and components
Vehicle and parts rebuilds
Preparing vehicles for events, track days, and IVA tests
Maintaining a clean and organised workshop
Occasional customer interaction where required
Attendance at events and track days
Flexibility to work occasional weekends for company activities
As a growing small business, responsibilities may extend beyond the above duties, offering variety and the opportunity to gain experience across multiple areas of the operation. Event and show attendance is part of the role and is always an enjoyable aspect of working with the team.
Location: This is a fully site-based role at Great British Sports Cars Ltd, working across our office, warehousing, and manufacturing facilities.
