Another fantastic GBS Friday Night at the Factory event.....

On Friday 19th June, we started the weekend in style with our second GBS Friday Night at the Factory event of the year — and what a fantastic evening it was.

With the gates opening at 5pm, it didn't take long for the car park to fill with an impressive variety of vehicles. One of the highlights of the evening was the arrival of the Bond Bug Club, who joined us for part of the evening and created a fantastic display in one corner of the car park. Their colourful and unique cars attracted plenty of attention and made a great addition to the event.

It was also fantastic to see so many GBS Zeros together, alongside a wide variety of other sports cars, classics, performance cars. One of the things we enjoy most about Friday Night at the Factory is seeing such a diverse range of vehicles and enthusiasts come together. Whether you own a Zero, a classic car, a supercar, a motorcycle, or simply enjoy being around great vehicles, everyone is welcome.

Zero Mazda Build Passes IVA and now ready to be enjoyed on the road....

This stunning Zero Mazda build has now successfully passed its IVA test and is just one step away from being registered and enjoyed on both the road and track later this year.

This build is a fantastic example of what can be achieved using our popular Zero Mazda Module Kit combined with a Mazda MX-5 donor vehicle. The Mazda-based build route continues to be one of the most popular options for customers looking to create a lightweight, high-performance sports car for road and track while making use of the excellent components from the MX-5.

Starting with a Mazda donor car and our Zero Mazda Module Kit, builders can create a truly bespoke sports car tailored to their own requirements. The modular build process allows customers to spread the cost of the project while enjoying the satisfaction of building their own car.

One of the great advantages of the Zero is the vast range of options and upgrades available throughout the build. This particular car features several impressive upgrades, including factory-fitted aluminium panel work, a custom paint finish, throttle bodies, and a rear diffuser, all of which help create a unique and striking finished vehicle.

We look forward to seeing the car registered and out enjoying the roads very soon and also joining us at our GBS events this the year.

If you're interested in building your own Zero, whether using a Mazda MX-5 donor or one of our other build options, get in touch with the GBS team or arrange a factory visit. We'd be delighted to show you around and help you start planning your dream build.

Zero kit collected and another registered for the road.....

It has been another busy and exciting few weeks at GBS, with both the start of a brand-new Zero build and the completion of another customer project ready to be enjoyed on the road, and several other Zeros that have recently passed IVA and now also waiting registration before hitting the road.

Last month we saw the collection of a stunning newly painted Ultimate Zero kit, ready for its owner to begin the next stage of the build process. Every Zero build is unique, and it's always exciting for both us and the customer to see a project move from a collection of components to a finished sports car.

On the same day, another customer collected their completed Zero, which has recently passed its IVA test and is now fully registered and road legal. After months of hard work, planning, and dedication, there's nothing quite like seeing a Zero leave the factory ready to enjoy on the open road.

The contrast between these two collections perfectly highlights the journey of a Zero build — from collecting a brand-new kit and beginning the assembly process, through to passing IVA and taking the keys to a fully registered sports car. It's a journey we are proud to support every step of the way.

Whether you choose our Ultimate Zero package, a Mazda-based build, or something completely bespoke, every project is different and every completed car reflects the personality and vision of its owner.

We love being part of the entire Zero journey, from first enquiry and factory visits through to kit collection, IVA, registration, and seeing customers enjoy their cars on the road and track.

If you're interested in starting your own Zero build, get in touch with the GBS team or visit us at one of our upcoming events to find out more about the options available and begin planning your dream sports car. Contact us.

GBS Customer enjoying a strong start to the Motorsport Season in his Zero....

We always love to see customers out enjoying their Zeros, whether on the road, track, or competing in motorsport events around the UK. Recently, we received an update from GBS customer Roy Woodfield, who has been having an impressive season competing in both the Curborough Championship and the Midland Speed Championship with his Zero.

Roy is currently lying 2nd in class and an impressive 9th overall out of 70 competitors entered in the Curborough Championship — a fantastic achievement and a real testament to both his driving and the capability of the Zero platform.

Alongside this, Roy is also competing in the Midland Speed Championship, which gives him the opportunity to compete at a variety of well-known venues around the country. So far this season, he has already tackled the famous Shelsley Walsh hill climb and is preparing for a double-header event at Prescott on 13th and 14th June, followed by Harewood on 1st and 2nd August, alongside additional Midland Speed Championship rounds at Curborough.

Despite only having completed two rounds so far in the Midland Speed Championship, Roy is already sitting 3rd in class and 37th overall, showing just how competitive both he and the car have been this year.

Roy has also been discussing potential upgrades with Richard, including gearbox, suspension setup, and brake improvements, as he looks to further develop the car and continue improving performance. Some of these upgrades may be completed before the end of the current season, with further developments potentially planned over the winter period.

It’s always fantastic for the whole GBS team to see customers using and enjoying their Zeros in competition, and Roy’s results so far this year are a brilliant example of just how capable and versatile the Zero can be in motorsport.

We’d like to wish Roy the very best of luck for the remainder of the season and we look forward to following his progress throughout the year.

GBS Cars & Coffee event sponsored by Yokohama Tyres is happening on Saturday 18th July....

Saturday 18th July

We are excited to share that the date for the next GBS Cars & Coffee event of 2026 has now been confirmed. Proudly sponsored by Yokohama Tyres, the event will take place on Saturday 18th July at GBS from 10am–2pm.

As many of you know, everyone at GBS has a real passion for cars, motorsport, and all things automotive, which is why our Cars & Coffee events have become such a big part of the GBS calendar. Each event continues to grow, attracting an amazing variety of sports cars, performance cars, classics, bikes, and of course plenty of GBS Zeros.

These events are a fantastic opportunity for enthusiasts to get together, enjoy the atmosphere, meet like-minded people, and spend a few hours surrounded by incredible machinery. Whether you already own a Zero, are thinking about starting a build, or simply enjoy cars, everyone is welcome to join us.

After working closely with Yokohama Tyres for several years and proudly supplying their products through our parts shop and website, Kit Spares, we are delighted to once again have Yokohama supporting the event this year. On the day, a member of the Yokohama sales team will also be joining us, giving visitors the opportunity to chat tyres, performance, and motorsport.

The GBS team will be on hand throughout the day, and the Kit Spares shop will also be open for browsing and collections. There will be plenty of cars to see, great conversations, and a relaxed friendly atmosphere that makes these events so popular.

We look forward to welcoming you all to GBS on Saturday 18th July for what promises to be another fantastic Cars & Coffee event.

ALL CARS ARE WELCOME TO JOIN US…..

Saturday 18th July at GBS

Great to welcome returning GBS customer to collect his second Zero kit.....

Great to welcome returning GBS customer Matt back to GBS to collect his brand-new Ultimate Zero kit earlier this month, finished in the stunning Volkswagen colour Ascot Grey. The colour looks fantastic and is sure to make this latest build stand out once completed.

This will be Matt’s second Zero build, having previously built his first car back in 2011. After many years of ownership and enjoyment, Matt eventually sold the car, but the passion for the Zero never went away. Now, he’s back and excited to begin another build — this time sharing the experience with his son.

One of the things we always love about the Zero is how it brings people together. Building a kit car is not just about the finished result; it’s about the journey, the memories created, and the skills learned along the way. The Zero makes a fantastic father-and-son or daughter project, giving families the opportunity to spend quality time together while creating something truly special and unique.

Matt’s new Ultimate Zero build is another great example of how every Zero is completely individual, with owners able to personalise their cars through colour choices, engine options, interiors, suspension setups, and much more. We’re looking forward to following this build over the coming months and seeing the project progress from kit collection through to completion and its first drive on the road.

It’s also an exciting time in the GBS workshop, with several other stunning Zero builds currently away at paint and more cars due back with us soon. We’re looking forward to sharing updates, photos, and videos of these builds as they continue to come together.

If you’re interested in starting your own Zero build journey, whether it’s a road car, track car, or a project to enjoy with family and friends, get in touch with the GBS team — we’d be happy to discuss the options and help you start planning your dream build.

Innovation & Development at GBS – Large-Scale 3D Printing....

At GBS, we’re always looking at new ways to improve the way we design, develop, and manufacture our products, and recently we’ve been carrying out some very interesting large-scale 3D printing projects on site.

3D printing has become a fantastic tool within our development process, allowing us to rapidly prototype new ideas and components in a quick and cost-effective way. Instead of waiting for full production parts to be manufactured, we’re able to produce prototype components in-house, test fitments, assess designs, and make changes far more efficiently during the early stages of development.

This process not only helps speed up product development but also gives us greater flexibility when testing new concepts and refining ideas before committing them to production. It allows the team to experiment, improve designs, and ensure components are functioning exactly as intended before moving forward.

One of the biggest advantages is that once a component design has been tested and confirmed, we can then move it directly into production within our fabrication or engineering departments. Using our in-house manufacturing capabilities, including CNC machining, we’re able to take those approved concepts and turn them into fully engineered production parts with the quality and precision expected from GBS.

As with much of what we do, this is another example of how keeping development and manufacturing in-house allows us to remain flexible, innovative, and continuously improving our products. With around 80% of the Zero designed and manufactured by our own team, having tools like large-scale 3D printing available on site further strengthens our ability to develop exciting new products and ideas efficiently.

There are already some exciting projects currently in development using this technology, and we’re looking forward to sharing more details soon. Stay tuned for future updates from the GBS workshop and engineering departments.

GBS to Exhibit at PistonHeads Annual Service 2026....

We’re excited to announce that GBS has been invited to exhibit for the first time at this year’s PistonHeads Annual Service, taking place on Saturday 8th August at Bicester Motion.

This is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase the GBS Zero to a wider audience, and we’re looking forward to being part of what has quickly become one of the UK’s must-attend automotive events. The GBS team will be on hand throughout the day with a selection of Zeros and our product range, so whether you’re an existing owner, a future builder, or simply a car enthusiast, we’d love you to come and see us.

Launched as part of PistonHeads’ 25th anniversary celebrations, the Annual Service has rapidly grown into a flagship event. The inaugural show welcomed over 5,000 enthusiasts, and by 2025 it had expanded into a complete sell-out with a record 7,000 attendees — highlighting just how popular and well-regarded it has become.

For one day only, the entire Bicester Motion site is transformed into a vibrant automotive showcase — a privilege reserved for only a select number of events. The live stage sits at the heart of the day, hosting exclusive interviews, podcast recordings, and award ceremonies, while across the venue visitors can explore an incredible mix of display cars, themed areas, manufacturers, specialists, and car clubs.

We’re proud to be part of this exciting event for the first time and can’t wait to meet fellow enthusiasts, share our passion for the Zero, and connect with the wider automotive community.

Be sure to keep an eye on our events page for more details — and make sure to come and say hello if you’re attending!

First GBS Track Day of 2026 — What a Day!

What a fantastic way to kick off our first GBS track day of 2026! At Blyton Park (one of our favourite tracks) with Javelin Trackdays, the day delivered everything you could want from a track event — sunshine, speed, great company, and plenty of action out on circuit.

Its always great to see so many Zeros together in one place, all being driven as they were designed to be — out on track. From seasoned drivers to those experiencing their first time behind the wheel, the atmosphere throughout the day was friendly, supportive, and full of enthusiasm.

Our Zero demonstrator cars were kept busy from start to finish, giving passenger laps and showcasing exactly what the Zero is capable of. It’s always a highlight to see the reactions from those stepping out of the car — a real reminder of just how exciting these cars are to drive, especially on the track!

As with any proper track day, there were a few moments of drama along the way, including the odd spin and even some trackside repairs. But that’s all part of the experience, and it was great to see everyone pitching in, helping each other, and getting cars back out on track as quickly as possible.

Events like this are what the GBS community is all about — bringing people together to enjoy their cars, share knowledge, and have a great time in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and made the day such a success. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. We’d also like to thank the team at Javelin Trackdays for helping to deliver a great event. We’ll be announcing our next track event soon — so keep an eye out, and we hope to see even more of you on track next time!

Head to our GBS events page to see more events we have planned, including our first GBS Friday Night at the Factory event happening this Friday (1st May) at GBS - Gate open at 5pm and all cars are welcome to join us!

Take a look inside the GBS workshop at two stunning Zero builds....

It’s been a busy and productive few weeks in the GBS workshop, and as always, we’ve had an interesting mix of cars passing through — not just Zeros. It’s always a pleasure to see a variety of Zero builds coming together, each one unique in its own way.

Recently, we’ve welcomed two particularly impressive examples into the workshop for our IVA preparation service, both currently being carefully prepared ahead of their tests.

The first is a stunning Ultimate Zero kit build, powered by the ever-popular Ford Duratec 2.3 engine — a fantastic choice for those looking for strong performance and a proven setup. Alongside it, we have a Mazda Module Zero build, based on the Mazda MX-5 donor platform. This build showcases the versatility of the Zero concept, offering a more accessible route into ownership while still delivering an engaging driving experience.

These two cars are great examples of how different running gear and build approaches can produce equally impressive results. Every Zero that comes through our workshop is bespoke and individual, reflecting the vision and preferences of its owner — something we’re always proud to support.

We’re looking forward to seeing both of these builds successfully pass their IVA tests, get registered, and most importantly, be enjoyed out on the road and track.

If you’re thinking about building your own sports car, our team is here to help. Whether you’re just starting out or already partway through a build, we can offer advice, guidance, and support every step of the way.

Alternatively, why not come and see us in person? Join us on Friday 1st May at GBS for our Friday Night at the Factory event from 5pm. There’s always a great turnout of Zeros on display — the perfect opportunity to get inspired and chat with the team. We look forward to seeing you there!

We’re also pleased to offer these in children’s sizes (made to order), and they’ve already proven incredibly popular since launch — it’s fantastic to see so many families getting involved and wearing GBS together.

A Day of Highs and Challenges at Donington Park for the GBS Zero Race Team….

It was a true mixed bag for the GBS Zero race team at Donington Park this weekend, as we took on the latest round of the CSCC Magnificent Sevens Series. Despite the challenges, the team delivered an incredible performance and came away with two trophies— a testament to determination, teamwork, and the capability of the Zero race car.

The day started with drama in qualifying when a failure of the lower rear rose joints forced the car into the paddock for urgent repairs. In a race against time, the team worked flat out and managed to get the car back together with just seconds to spare before heading out for Race 1.

Behind the wheel, Will Orton delivered an outstanding drive. Starting from the back, he pushed hard through the field, gaining an incredible eight places to secure 1st in class — an impressive result under pressure and in wet conditions. He also set the 5th fastest lap of the race with a time of 1:34.202, highlighting the true pace of the car.

Joining Will on track were fellow Zero drivers Chris McQueen and Ben Low. Unfortunately, it wasn’t their day. Chris was unable to make qualifying due to a wheel bearing issue, while Ben, who had worked hard to even make the event following earlier engine troubles, was ultimately forced to retire during qualifying when the issue returned.

Race 2 brought more action — and more adversity. After another strong showing, Will was unfortunately caught up in a incident on the track, sustaining damage to the front end and nose cone which brought his race to an early end. Remarkably, despite not finishing, he still secured another class win, alongside setting the 4th fastest lap with a time of 1:42.480.

It was a day full of ups and downs — but ultimately, the highs outweighed the challenges. The team’s efforts not only secured two trophies but also proved the strength and resilience of the car in real-world conditions, including validating the effectiveness of our crash structure.

A huge thank you goes to our GBS team, our supporters, partners, and of course Will for delivering such an incredible performance in demanding conditions. We’d also like to thank the organisers of the CSCC Magnificent Sevens Series and all the marshals for ensuring a safe and well-run event.

Finally, thank you to everyone who came along to support and watch — it was an amazing day, and we’re already looking forward to the next one.
Visit our GBS YouTube Chanel to see more action from the day and a full race review.

A Busy Start to the Year in the GBS Workshop....

It’s been an incredibly busy start to the year here at GBS, and the months ahead are shaping up to be even busier. With a growing number of customers looking to get their cars road-ready, demand for our professional IVA preparation and testing service is continuing to rise.

Our workshop team is dedicated to helping customers successfully navigate the IVA process, ensuring every vehicle meets the required standards while taking the stress out of the final stages of the build and all the required paperwork.

One of the latest standout projects is this stunning Ultimate GBS Zero build, which is currently receiving a full Ultra Clear Pro PPF (paint protection film) treatment at Custom Creations Detailing who are local to GBS. This high-quality protection will keep the car looking immaculate, safeguarding the finish and enhancing its overall presentation.

Once the detailing process is complete, the car will be arriving with us at GBS for final preparation ahead of its IVA test. Our team will carry out a comprehensive inspection and fine-tuning process, ensuring everything is perfectly in place for a successful IVA test.

Each build that comes through our workshop represents a significant milestone for our customers, and it’s always rewarding to play a part in bringing these cars to life. From workshop preparation to IVA presentation, we’re committed to delivering a smooth and professional service every step of the way.

We’re excited to share more updates on this build once it arrives, along with several other impressive projects currently in progress.

As more cars near completion, we look forward to seeing even more Zeros out on the road and making their mark on track later this year.

If you’re approaching the final stages of your build and need support with IVA preparation, now is the perfect time to get booked in. To find out more about our workshop services or to reserve your slot, please get in touch with the team today.

Great to see the GBS Zero making an impression in the USA.....

Last week we received some fantastic photos from GBS Zero owner Aaron in the USA, showing his Zero on display at the Salem Roadster Show in Oregon. Aaron’s car attracted plenty of attention and interest throughout the event and was one of only a few British cars on display.

We had the pleasure of welcoming Aaron and his family to the GBS factory last summer whilst on holiday in the UK. It was fantastic to finally meet them in person after many months of working together remotely. During their visit, they enjoyed a full tour of the GBS factory, met the team, and experienced a test drive in our latest GBS demonstrator.

Some of you may also recognise Aaron’s Zero from our stand at the Miata Reunion at Sonoma Raceway in California in 2024, where Richard, Matt and Paul were attending. The car certainly gathered a lot of attention and excitement there as well.

We’re incredibly proud that the GBS Zero is now enjoyed by owners all over the world, including a growing number of passionate customers across the United States. To support this growing community, we have a dedicated GBS USA representative who is on hand to assist with enquiries, provide local knowledge, and help guide customers through the self-build or turnkey process, shipping, and more.

Whether you're based in California, New York, Texas, or anywhere in between, we can help make your Zero dream a reality.

If you're based in the USA and are interested in the GBS Zero — whether it’s our Mazda-based kit, a custom configuration, or a fully factory-built option — get in touch. We’d be happy to connect you with our USA representative or arrange a video call with our team here at the factory to explore the options available.

We look forward to seeing even more Zeros on the road across the USA and welcoming more American customers to the GBS factory in the future.

GBS Cars & Coffee - What a Fantastic Start to 2026

What a Fantastic Start to 2026!

The first GBS Cars & Coffee event of the year was an absolute blast! A huge thank you to everyone who joined us—it was fantastic to see so many amazing cars and catch up with fellow enthusiasts.

On Saturday 7th March, we welcomed a fantastic turnout at GBS for our first Cars & Coffee event of 2026. The weather was perfect, and our car park was packed with an incredible mix of sports cars, several Zeros alongside a wide variety of performance and classic cars.

We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the day such a great success.

A special thanks also goes to the Howden Insurance team for joining us on the day, and to Pipercross Air Filters for supporting the event and providing the prizes—a carbon air filter and a family photoshoot. Congratulations to Alex Botten and Richard Marsh for winning!

Our GBS Cars & Coffee (& Cake) events, held throughout the year at our factory in Nottinghamshire, have grown significantly since the very first event back in 2016. What started as a small gathering has now become one of our most popular events, with a car park full of incredible sports cars and passionate enthusiasts.

At every event, our GBS showroom and workshop are open for visitors to explore, along with our Kit Spares shop, where guests can browse a range of parts and accessories. And of course, no Cars & Coffee event would be complete without cake, biscuits, and unlimited tea and coffee!
These events are completely free to attend, but we encourage donations to help raise money for three fantastic charities we proudly support: Notts & Lincs Air Ambulance, Cancer Research UK, Nottinghamshire Blood Bikes.
The GBS team looks forward to welcoming you to future Cars & Coffee events. Keep an eye on our website and social media for the next event date—we can’t wait to do it all again!
