Exciting Factory Build: Zero Race Car in Progress -

Sometimes no words are needed—this one speaks for itself! We’ve got something truly special taking shape in our build bay right now. This brand-new factory-built Zero Race car is designed for both road and track use, and its spec and performance are set to go beyond even our own GBS Zero Race demonstrator.

The build is progressing, and we’re already thrilled with how it’s coming together. Here’s a little preview of the spec: Here’s a little preview of the spec:

• Standard Zero Race Chassis – Powder coated in striking orange

• Paintwork – BMW Yas Marina Blue, giving it a bold and modern finish

• Power – Ford Duratec Engine with ATR Throttle Bodies

• Seats – Composite race seats for lightweight comfort and strength

• Safety – TRS 6-point harness with HANS device compatibility

• Technology – AIM Dash for precision data monitoring

GBS Zeros out on Track Racing at Oulton Park.....

At the weekend, the GBS team headed to Oulton Park to support driver Abi Whitt, who was racing our GBS Zero race car in the CSCC Magnificent Sevens Series again. It was a fantastic day of close racing and great atmosphere, with the Zero once again performing exceptionally well — showing off its impressive speed, agility, and reliability on track.

It was brilliant to see not just our own Zero race car in action, but also another GBS Zero competing in the same race! The paddock was busy with plenty of interest from spectators and customers, several of whom joined us on the day to see the cars in action. Many are now hoping to be on the grid themselves next year in their own GBS Zeros — which is exactly what we love to see!

The CSCC Magnificent Sevens Oulton Park Finale proved to be a thrilling way to close out the 2025 season and another great milestone for GBS on the race circuit.

We’re already looking ahead to 2026, with exciting plans to get back out on track with the Zeros as much as we can.

What a turnout at our Autumn GBS Cars & Coffee event....

Saturday’s (11th October) Cars & Coffee was one of our busiest yet, with the car park overflowing with every kind of car. It’s always a pleasure to host these events here at GBS, and it was fantastic to welcome so many new faces and vehicles – not just Seven-style cars, but a great mix from across the automotive world.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such a brilliant day. The cakes went down a treat, and we’re proud to have raised money for our three chosen charities Cancer Research, Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance and Nottinghamshire Blood Bikes.

Another Zero Registered & Enjoyed in the USA....

We’re delighted to share that another GBS Zero is now fully road-registered in the USA and being enjoyed out on the open road. Last week we received a fantastic update from Aaron, proud owner of this stunning Zero, who shared that not only is his car now fully legal for road use, but it also scooped 1st Place – Foreign Class at his local car show! To top it off, Aaron has received a special invitation to showcase his Zero at an exclusive indoor event in Salem, Oregon.

Earlier this summer, in July, we had the pleasure of welcoming Aaron and his family to the GBS factory during their trip from California. They enjoyed a full tour of the factory, met the GBS team behind the build, and even had the chance to experience our latest demonstrator out on the road with Richard.

Some of you may also remember Aaron’s car from last year, when it was proudly displayed on our stand at the Miata Reunion at Sonoma Raceway in California alongside Richard, Matt, and Paul. His Zero was a huge hit with the crowds, turning heads and sparking plenty of interest.

We’re proud that the GBS Zero is enjoyed by enthusiasts all over the world, with a growing number of passionate owners in the USA. To support this, we have a dedicated GBS USA representative who is on hand to answer questions, offer local knowledge, and guide you through the self-build or turnkey process.

Proof you don't need a garage to build a Zero kit.....

One of the things we love most about the Zero is how accessible it is to build. You don’t need a huge workshop or a professional setup—just enthusiasm, determination, and a little creativity.
One of our customers had always dreamed of building their own Zero but thought it wasn’t possible without a garage. Their solution? They set up their build in a caravan awning—and it worked brilliantly!
This particular project is even more special, as it’s a father-and-son Mazda Zero build. It’s been fantastic to watch their progress, proving that building a Zero isn’t just about the car—it’s also about the experience, the memories made, and the sense of achievement along the way.

The build was made easier with our Zero Build Trolley, which allows the chassis to be easily wheeled around as the project develops. This handy option makes building in smaller spaces or unusual locations much simpler.

The car is now nearing completion and is already booked into our workshop for the IVA service that we provide. It’s on track to be on the road in 2026, ready to be enjoyed for years to come.

Educational Zero Builds.....Inspiring the Next Generation of Car Builders

Yesterday we delivered a GBS Zero kit to North Lindsey College in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. Where students will soon begin their very own Zero build journey. For many of them, this will be the first time working hands-on with a sports car project of this scale, and we look forward to following their progress.

We’re passionate about supporting education and giving students the opportunity to experience engineering in a real, practical way. Our educational kit builds are designed to inspire, teach valuable skills, and provide insight into the world of automotive design and manufacturing.

We’re proud to work closely with schools, colleges, and universities across the UK and beyond, offering not only our Zero kit builds but also dedicated student factory tours where groups can explore our workshop, see our production in action, and learn more about the British sports car industry.

Another Zero complete and on the road in the USA.....

We’re delighted to share that Peter Joffrion from Texas in the USA has completed his GBS Zero which is now fully licensed with a loud and proud Texas style “GBS” license plate. Peter took his Zero to the campus of the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor and got some great photos to share.

Peter’s Zero is a Mazda based build, with a fully rebuilt 1.8L RB engine including ARP threaded fasteners, mild head work to smooth out and optimize intake and exhaust flow, 3 angle valve grind and higher rate valve springs to increase save operating engine speeds up to 8,000 RPM.  All engine components have been weight matched and rotating/reciprocating parts have been dynamically balanced.  Peter also rebuilt the transmission (gearbox) and differential.  Looking for some nostalgic styling features Peter added retro look components from the great British sportscars from the 1960's and 1970's with period correct Tri-pod headlights, Mini Lite styled wheels, wood steering wheel and burlwood dash which Peter designed and fabricated in his workshop.  The seats were custom designed by Wise Guys Seats and Upholstery based on a number of photos from sports cars manufactured in the 1960's and 1970's.  Commenting on the entire build Peter said “I also wanted to thank you for all the assistance during the build process.  Your guidance and direction is appreciated.  The next phase of this project is fine tuning the suspension, brakes and engine to my preferences”.

GBS Zero Race Car – Donington Park Test & Brands Hatch Race Weekend….

A few weeks ago, we spent a fantastic evening at Donington Park with driver Abi Whitt, as she put our GBS Zero race car through its paces in preparation for the Gold Arts Magnificent Sevens at Brands Hatch where she will be driving our Zero race car.

The Donington test session was invaluable — allowing Abi to fine-tune the setup, test performance, and build confidence ahead of race day. Abi showed impressive pace and handled the Zero brilliantly, giving us every reason to be excited for the weekend at Brands Hatch.

Unfortunately, the GBS team couldn’t be at the track to support Abi in person, as the event clashed with our own GBS Drive Out. However, we were delighted to follow her progress closely and celebrate her results afterwards.

The Weekend Recap:

• Day 1 – Qualifying: On Saturday evening at 5pm, Abi qualified 8th out of 20 cars. The GBS Zero was the only Zero on the grid, racing alongside a strong field of Caterhams.

• Day 2 – Race 1 (12:25): In tricky conditions, the treaded tyre runners had the advantage at the start. Abi seized her chance and gained two places before an early safety car was deployed after one of the slick runners was caught out on cold wet tyres.

• Race 2 (17:30): Abi once again impressed, climbing as high as 6th overall. Sadly, a late fuel issue forced her into retirement before the chequered flag — but not before showing the pace and competitiveness of the Zero.

Abi thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and was very impressed with the car’s performance and handling. With just a few tweaks to seat positioning and setup, we’re confident the Zero will be even stronger at the next outing.

The car is now back with us and already being prepared for its next test night and upcoming Gold Arts Magnificent Sevens race. We’re proud of Abi’s efforts and look forward to seeing her back out on track very soon.

GBS Drive Out to Futura Sports Cars Open Day....

We had a fantastic day for our August GBS Drive Out, this time heading over to Futura Sports Cars for their Open Day. It was a brilliant opportunity to enjoy plenty of driving, great company, and to celebrate our new partnership with Futura Sports Cars as our Northern Dealer Specialist.

The day began with an early start from GBS, where a group of Zeros and other sports cars gathered before making the drive up to Yorkshire through some lovely roads. One of the highlights of the journey was seeing the convoy of cars driving right through the centre of York — a sight that certainly turned a few heads!

On arrival at Futura Sports Cars, it was fantastic to see their new setup, meet the team, and share in the excitement of their Open Day. Afterwards, we continued the day with lunch and drinks at the near by Aldwark Manor, where everyone could catch up and enjoy the sunshine before heading home their separate ways.

The weather was perfect throughout the day, and thankfully we managed to avoid the rain, making it an even more enjoyable drive. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us — it was a great turnout, and events like this wouldn’t be the same without you. We’ll be announcing details of the next GBS Drive Out very soon, and we hope to see you there for another fun day with the sports cars. This new partnership is a fantastic opportunity to make the GBS experience more accessible across the UK. What a Fantastic Finale – GBS Friday Night at the Factory….
Wow – what a fantastic evening to round off our final GBS Friday Night at the Factory of the year last Friday (08/08/25)! We were thrilled to see such a brilliant turnout, with the car park overflowing with some truly stunning cars from our customers, friends, and fellow enthusiasts.

The sun was shining, the atmosphere was buzzing, and the smell of freshly baked pizza filled the air thanks to the amazing team at Sherwood Fired Pizzas, who once again delivered mouth-watering wood-fired pizzas that were enjoyed by everyone. The drinks were chilled, the cakes went down a treat, and conversations flowed well into the evening.

Events like this really showcase the fantastic community we’re proud to be a part of – a place where everyone shares their passion for cars, good food, and great company.

Thank you to everyone who joined us throughout the season, making these Friday nights such a highlight in our calendar. With the unfortunate cancellation of the Lincolnshire Kit Car Show this year, we’re excited to announce that we’ll be hosting another GBS Drive Out on Sunday 31st August — and we’d love for you to join us!

Following the success of last year’s event, which brought together a brilliant mix of Zeros and other cars for a fantastic day of driving, we’re planning another enjoyable route through some beautiful roads.

This year’s drive will begin at Great British Sports Cars HQ in Nottinghamshire. We’ll gather at the factory in the morning before heading off on an approx. 80/90-mile route, finishing somewhere in the Yorkshire area. The final destination and route details will be confirmed and shared closer to the time.

We welcome all cars and owners — whether you're driving a GBS Zero or something else entirely, it’s all about enjoying the drive, the scenery, and the shared passion for cars.

Fundraising Update – Thank You for Your Support!

We’re proud to share that £167.31 was raised at our recent events, bringing our total fundraising so far to £2,373.03 for the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance. We are incredibly grateful for your continued generosity and support — every penny really does help these vital services continue their life-saving work.

At every GBS event, we also collect donations for Cancer Research UK and Nottingham Blood Bikes, two charities very close to our hearts. Thank you again to everyone who contributes — your kindness makes a real difference.

GBS - Track Day What a Fantastic (and Hot) Day at Blyton Park with the Zeros!....

Last Saturday (12th July) saw another brilliant day on track as we returned to Blyton Park for another GBS Track Day of the year. The sun was shining, the track was hot, and the Zeros were flying!

Our new Zero Race Car and Mazda-powered demonstrator spent the day doing what they were built for – delivering pure driving excitement lap after lap. It was great to be joined by a number of Zero owners and customers who also took to the track or enjoyed passenger laps with the GBS team. Whether in the driver’s seat or the passenger seat, there were smiles all round.

The Yokohama AO52 tyres once again delivered exceptional grip in the high temperatures, and we had no trouble lapping and gapping many of the other vehicles sharing the circuit. It really shows how capable the Zero is when properly set up and driven to its potential.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along – whether on track, spectating, or just stopping by to chat. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

Behind the scenes.... Inspiring the Next Generation of Engineers – Aston University Students Visit GBS

Earlier this week, we were delighted to welcome a group of engineering students from Aston University to the GBS factory for a full behind-the-scenes tour. The students, who are currently undertaking a GBS Zero self-build project of their own, had the opportunity to explore the complete production process — from design and engineering through to fabrication, assembly, and testing.

As part of their visit, the group saw first hand how the GBS Zero is designed and manufactured in-house, including our ATR components such as suspension, throttle bodies and more. It was a great chance for the students to gain practical insight into automotive engineering and manufacturing, while asking questions and learning from our experienced team.

We're always proud to support educational institutions and student-led projects, and the Zero self-build kit provides an ideal platform for applying real-world engineering skills. Whether it's mechanical, electrical, fabrication or systems engineering, the GBS Zero is a rewarding and exciting challenge that delivers hands-on learning in a truly unique way.

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming GBS Zero owner Aaron and his family to the GBS factory, visiting us all the way from sunny California, USA. It was fantastic to meet them in person after many years /months of working together remotely. During their visit, they toured the GBS factory, met the full team behind the build of their Zero, and enjoyed a test drive in our latest GBS demonstrator.

Aaron’s high-spec Zero is now very near completion and will soon be ready to begin its journey on the roads of the USA. Some of you may have already seen Aaron’s Zero on our stand last year when Richard, Matt and Paul were at the Miata Reunion at Sonoma Raceway in California — it certainly gathered a lot of attention and excitement.

-Module One / The Foundation – £3,956.00- Begin with the core of your kit, starting with the chassis, pedal box, alloy interior and exterior panels.
-Module Two / Wiring & GRP Bodywork – £1,867.00- Get your wiring harness, body panels, brake lines, and fuel lines in place.
- Module Three / Engine & Fuel System – £1,837.00- Install the fuel system, engine mounts, engine harnesses, sensors, and exhaust system.
- Module Four / Suspension & Steering – £4,434.00-Assemble your front and rear suspension, fully adjustable dampers, wishbones, steering kit, driveshafts, and prop shaft.
- Module Five / Interior Completion – £3,290.00- Fit your full interior including GBS seats and runners, steering wheel, boot cover, and trims for a complete, comfortable cockpit.
- Module Six / Final Touches & ECU – £3,237.00 -In the last stage, the car comes alive with the Emerald ECU, wheels and tyres, windscreen, wiper motor, mirrors, grill, and GBS badges. This stage ensures your Zero is fully functional for the IVA and road-ready.
