Happy New Year to you all… We are back & ready for the year ahead….

We all had a nice Christmas break, a little different to usual but we all now feel refreshed and ready for 2021 to begin.

We are all looking forward to the year ahead, its normally a busy January for the GBS Team as we are always busy preparing the GBS Zeros for our first event of the year which is the Autosport International Show, but sadly this year that is not taking place. The GBS 2021 event Calendar is looking a little different to previous years with not many events yet confirmed, but we will be soon listing the events that we are hoping to be at if they are able to go ahead. We are looking forward to our first GBS Cars & Coffee event which we have planned for Saturday 27th March, which we really hope can safley happen. So please keep checking our events page and follow us on social media for more details and to see other events that we have planned that we hope you will all be able to join us on, please visit our events page.

Different Cars, but same engine set up..... What engine would you have in your Zero?

Different cars but same engine set up….. We have had this Mk2 Escort with us in the workshop for a while and it has attracted a lot attention whilst its been with us, and many of you that have visited us will have seen it in the corner of the workshop. We have been doing a lot of design and development work with it, to meet the IVA requirements and we recently presented it to IVA and its now registered and ready for the road.

The all new Mk2 Escort is powered by a brand new Ford supplied 2.5L Duratec on our popular ATR Billet Throttle Bodies & Life ECU, which is the same set up as our Zero Demonstrator which offers great handling and performance. The Zero takes a full range of engine options and we are able to make bespoke changes to suit your engine choices.

Some more nice Zero's to recently leave the GBS Factory....

Its been a busy few months with Zero Self Build collections and deliveries, with still a few more scheduled in for collection before the Christmas break, including one that will be collected later this week and off to Sweden. The GBS Workshop also has several nice Zero factory builds in progress along with many other nice Zero’s being with us for the IVA Service, Winter Check ups, Services and more. Brothers Andrew and James Crossland collected their Zero build from us last December (2019) and this December its all registered and on the road. It has been with us in the workshop for a few weeks as we prepared and presented it to IVA. You may have seen their LNER inspired Zero featured on our blog and social media several times during the year. Their Zero build is very special to them and you can read the full story here. We look forward to seeing Andrew, James and family at our Cars & Coffee event next year with their Zero.

Above is GBS Customer Jim Burges newly painted Zero that we delivered to him late last month. Jim purchased the Ultimate Zero Self Assembly Kit, which can be purchased in five different stages as the build progress or all in one go. This is Jim’s second Zero build that he is building and we look forward to seeing photographs as the build progresses, and seeing it on the road next year!

We have a very rare opportunity for someone to grab themselves a one off deal on a Zero Self Build kit available…..

Early this year we were approached by a college who has one of our Zero Self Builds kits to see if we would be able to help them, as due to COVID-19, and a tightened budget and the main member of staff who was leading the project left the college, they decided that they do not have the resources and skilled teaching staff to continue with the project. So we agreed to help them find a new home for the car.  

We now have this Zero Self Build kit back with us and its available for sale, this is a very rare opportunity and could be the ideal project for someone looking to build a Zero GT, please see the Zero Spec below-

• Zero 2016/17 Gen1 Chassis (Ford kit spec)

• GT wide body option

• Lowered floor and powder coated chassis

• BRG GRP Set with Sport Front Wings (these are marked but would paint)

No GBS Christmas Cars & Coffee this year, but we are looking forward to this.....

GBS Cars & Coffee Saturday 27th March 2021

Our GBS Christmas Cars & Coffee event would be taking place on Saturday 12th December but unfortunately it will not be happening this year BUT we are all very much looking forward to our 2021 GBS Cars & Coffee event that will be happening on Saturday  27th March at GBS.

As many of you know everyone at GBS has a strong passion for cars and anything to do with motorsport and we love our Cars & Coffee events and Track Days etc. But sadly, this year we have not been able to host and exhibit at any events due to Covid-19. So we hope that 2021 will be a better year for us all and that our Cars & Coffee event will be able to go ahead.

We hope to make Saturday 27th March the best GBS Cars & Coffee event yet & raise more money for two great charities…. We will be collecting for the Notts & Lincs Air Ambulance & Cancer Research. We will announce more details next year, and will do all we can to make sure the event can go ahead safely, all the GBS team look forward to seeing you all.

We are excited to have been featured in the 200th Swarf & Chip Show which was seen live on their YouTube last month on 23rd October. In this very special 200th Swarf & Chips show the MTDCNC and Swarf & Chip team visited us at GBS to find out how our beautiful cars are manufactured from fabrication, CNC machining and all the way to the final assembly. We continue and have been doing all we can to support our suppliers & partners in this time and most importantly look after our customers and staff. As a team we are staying positive and using this as an opportunity making adjustments to how we work.  

Whilst our Kit Spares and GBS Showroom is now closed from 5th November until December, we are still doing appointment only visits, for you to come and look at the Zero. Nice Zero's with us in the GBS Workshop & Self build Kits collected....

Its has been a busy few weeks and months in the GBS Workshop with several Zero’s and other sports cars coming and going, that have been with us for various works including the IVA Test that we offer. These four Zero’s have all now been IVA tested and are now waiting for the registration to come through. The next two months are also looking very busy as we have more IVA tests booked for several Zero’s and other sports cars and also two very nice factory built Zero’s, which we will share more details with you soon.

Our IVA Service is now back up and running nicely after a slight delay with appointments being cancelled due to Covid-19. Please get in touch if you would like more details or to book your car in with us for the IVA Service that we offer.

Which one would you have? So many options with the Zero's......

The options on the Zero’s are endless and each Zero that you see is different in many ways. We recently had three stunning factory built Zero’s with us in the workshop and took the opportunity to photograph them together. Each Zero is tailor built to each customer’s specification with your choice of appearance trim and accessories making each car truly unique to its owner.

The Red Zero is our demonstrator and the other two are now both registered and on the road being enjoyed by their new owners. These Zero’s are all very different to each other, and have many areas of personalisation from the wheels and tyres to the engine set up. Cadspec & MTD visit us to discuss exciting new joint projects….

As many of you know we have a full in-house design, development, and manufacturing facilities including our CNC  machines and we have recently moved onto a new software and are now pleased to be using feature cam software from Autodesk, which is very impressive and working well and helping us develop our design and product range.

Last week it was great to welcome Michael from Cadspec to GBS to come and have a look at how we are getting on with our new feature cam software from Autodesk and to see what we are up to and also to discuss a joint project that we are going to be doing. This week we also welcomed Giovanni and Joe from MTD to take a look around GBS and shared with them what we are doing, they also enjoyed a test drive in our demonstrator in which they were very impressed with.

We have lots of exciting manufacturing and engineering is underway along with some other very exciting things that we are planning together, we look forward to sharing more with you soon.

Zero Self Build Kit Collected & another Zero being enjoyed.....

Last week it was nice to welcome Robin and Charley to GBS to collect their new Zero Mazda self build which they ordered at the beginning of lock down. This is going to be a father and son project for them to enjoy together, the Zero is an ideal and popular project for Father and Sons to enjoy together. Another GBS Customer Robin Copley who collected his new factory built Zero from us earlier this year in January has now covered several thousand miles and is always out and about enjoying it when he can. Zero out on the track & something a little different in the workshop.....

It was nice to receive these action photographs ( Photogrpahy by @frozenspeed ) from Ivan and David who recently enjoyed their Zero Race on a track day at Spa, where they said there Zero Race performed really well. Ivan and David often join us on our GBS Track Days and we look forward to seeing them again very soon on the next GBS Track Days. The GBS Workshop is always busy and we often have a nice selection of Zeros in there, but this week we have something a little different in the GBS workshop. We have this Repco Brabham with us for engine, electrical and custom works, the owner also has a Zero and we look forward to completing the work on this Brabham then testing it out on the track. New Zero delivered & another waiting for first registration.....

This stunning factory built Zero is now all registered and ready to go. This week we are excited to be delivering it to the customer. This is a very nice spec Zero that is powered by the 2.5 Duratec engine and has many optional extras and upgrades fitted. We look forward to receiving photos from the new owner enjoying his new Zero and look forward to him joining us on GBS Track Days and at our Cars and Coffee events in the future. This very nice spec Zero also passed its IVA test last week and is just now waiting for the customer to come and visit and have there final fitting before it is all signed off. Then its just the registration that we are waiting for, which is going to be registered from September.

Zero Self Build arrives in Canada & another delivered......

Now that we can welcome to you GBS Factory (by appointment only) Kit collections are able to happen again and we are pleased to be now back on schedule with Zero self-build collections. We have had several Zero self builds collected over the last few weeks, including the delivery of a Mazda Self Build kit to GBS Customer Liam Anderson in Northampton. We always recommend when possible collection for self builds and a visit to the factory, but we realised that this is not always possible and often a delivery is better suited.
We were also pleased to have received an email from GBS Customer Colin Marzoff in Canada earlier this week to say that his Zero Mazda kit had arrived last weekend. Its all set out in his garage ready for the build to begin, we look forward to receiving more photographs and seeing these Zero builds progress.

What engine and spec would you have in your Zero….

The Ford Zetec / Duratec and Mazda are the most popular engine option for the Zero’s. We have specific engine mounts on the shelf for a wide selection of engines and have the capabilities to work with you to create a special instillation for an engine of your choice for your Zero.

The Zero is unique among Seven Type cars in having its engine mounted further back in the chassis giving much better weight distribution and balance to the car.

Currently in the workshop we have two very nice new factory built Zero’s one powered by a Ford 2.5L Duratec and the other by a Ford 2L Zetec engine, both of stunning spec and fitted with many optional extras and upgrades. One is due to be delivered to the customer anytime and the other is awaiting its IVA test which is scheduled for next week.

Want a Zero..... But have no garage, then don’t let that stop you!

We often get people say that they would love a Zero, but have no garage/workshop or anywhere for it to live. It was great to see what a new Zero owner has created who was in that position of having no garage or shelter for a Zero. GBS owner Conner Doyle created his very own custom made wooden garage / shelter for his new Zero from recycled pallet wood, which looks fantastic and does the job nicely. 

A few years ago we also had a young customer who built his Zero in a gazebo, at the side of his parents house, a Zero really can be built and stored nicely without a garage or workshop. There is no excuse!!
We also love to see photos of your Zero builds progressing, so why not send them to us and we can share them on here and with others.

Its nice to now be able to welcome customers back to see us to collect their Zero self build kits, and last Friday we were pleased to welcome back Philip Walsh from Bournemouth to collect his Zero Mazda Self Build kit. The next few weeks are also looking busy with Zero kit collections and we have several Zero chassis that recently came back from powder coating waiting in the dispatch bays for collection.
