Zero Motul Edition can be seen at various events this year.....

Its almost a year since we announced our partnership project with Motul and Motul UK Distributors Witham Motorsport to produce the Zero Motul Edition sports car, which we are delighted will be back with us here at GBS for our next GBS Cars & Coffee event which is happening on Saturday 11th June at GBS that is sponsored by Witham Motorsport and Motul.

Motul and the Witham Motorsport have supplied us with their products for several years and we were excited to work with them on this special project. The Zero is hand built bespoke to your individual specification and the Zero Motul Edition was certainly an example of that, the car that had been spec’d out between ourselves and Motul which has some very nice unique Motul Design features that you will be able to see if you are coming to our Cars & Coffee event.

The Zero Motul Edition is powered by a Ford Duratec engine, specially prepared by Neil Brown Engineering, the company that provides the motive power for the UK FIA Formula 4 championship  - a series where Motul is proud to be the lubricant partner, providing the spec engine oil for all competitors.

The Zero Motul Edition has been seen at many different events since it was revealed for the very first time at the Silverstone Classic Show last year. Here are just a few events where it can be seen over the next few months, The Suffolk Show – 31st May & 1st June, Lincolnshire Show – 22nd & 23rd June and Norfolk Show – 29th & 30th June. Another University of Nottingham student joins the GBS Team for a few months…..

We have been working with The University of Nottingham to offer Postgraduate placements at GBS, and last year we were delighted to welcome Sreeyesh Galla to the GBS Team. Sreeyesh who has now graduated from the University of Nottingham, worked with our marketing team whilst he was with us for his placement.

We were pleased to recently welcome Hugo Stephens to GBS for a placement. Hugo is currently studying MEng Mechanical Engineering at The University of Nottingham and is the Mechanical Lead for the Solar Electric Car being built by the University's Racing Team. With his strong background in CAD/CAM, Hugo is working with the Design and Engineering team to create the first Build Manual for the GBS Zero. We hope that by being able to offer a complete manual, it will make the decision to tackle your own Component Build less daunting, as this is something we have heard from some of our customers could be improved. Additionally, the documentation of a standardised sequence for our Factory Build cars will improve quality and consistency. 

  "I was excited to be given the chance to come to GBS to work on a real-world project, as I felt that it would provide brilliant exposure to the techniques and processes used to produce a commercial sports car. It has been a great environment to learn, and the team have been welcoming and happy to answer my questions. I've enjoyed applying the techniques I've picked up at University to the work I have been doing and have developed a number of new skills along the way. I'd thoroughly recommend a placement at GBS for anyone who would like to gain a different perspective of the automotive industry and find out what it's really like!  Once Hugo finishes his studies and placement with us, he will be returning to the University of Nottingham Racing Team over the summer to prepare for the iLumen European Solar Challenge at Circuit Zolder, before starting a graduate job in Motorsport in September. 

 We are also looking at offering other University of Nottingham students a Postgraduate placement throughout the year.

An opportunity has arisen for a Vehicle and Product Assembly Technician to join our team.
This is not simply working in your normal workshop, this is an exciting opportunity to join the enthusiastic and dynamic production team at GBS with many new products planned. The ideal candidate will enjoy the challenge of assembling and building new and exciting products from brake callipers, shock absorbers and assemblies and building full cars through to completion.

We are looking to significantly grow GBS in the coming year, this role for a vehicle & Product Assembly Technician will be based on site at Great British Sports Cars Ltd (NG22 9ZD) within the engineering and workshop facilities.

Our first GBS Cars & Coffee event of 2022 happened last month at the GBS Factory and was sponsored by A-Plan Insurance. It was a fantastic day and great event and nice to see so many people join us.

We offered free refreshments on the day but we ask for donations to help our chosen charities which are the Cancer Research and The Notts & Lincs Air Ambulance. We also decided to collect for Ukraine Crisis too.

We would like to say thank you to you all for your generous donations to our charities. We were delighted to have raised £172.15 for Cancer Research and The Notts & Lincs Air Ambulance donations will be counted later in the year when they next visit, and also £83.10 for the Ukraine Crisis.
The Cancer Research Charity got in touch to let us know that we have raised a total of £958.16 since we started collecting for them at our GBS Events, which is fantastic.

Fantastic day at our first GBS Cars & Coffee event of 2022.... Sponsored By A-Plan Insurance......

Great Weather, Cars and Cake, big thank you to everyone who joined us last Saturday (19th March) at GBS for a first Cars and Coffee event of 2022…….They just get better and better each time we hold our GBS Cars & Coffee events, and what a fantastic day we had with a car park full of sports cars. We would like to say a big THANK YOU to you all for joining us and helping us make it such a great event and enjoyable day, it was nice to see so many Zero’s together in the car park along with a wide variety of other sports cars. It was nice to see several new Zero’s that were newly registered also join us for the first time. The gates opened at 10am and by 10.45am the car park was already getting full, the weather was perfect and could not have been better for us.

The GBS and Kit Spares show room was very busy with people and the Kit Spares   was also very busy with sales and enquires. As usual the cakes attracted a lot of attention and certainly went down well with not many left along with the unlimited supply of tea and coffee. We would also like to thank A-Plan Insurance for sponsoring and supporting our event, you can see more about their insurance they offer on our Insurance page.

On Saturday we were pleased that Paul Barnes our USA representative was able to join us for the day, Paul has been over here to help coordinate the shipments of the ever growing GBS Zero’s that are heading to the USA.  Another great thing about our GBS Cars & Coffee events that we love, is that we are able to raise money for our 2 chosen charities which are the Cancer Research UK and The Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, we all feel and hope you agree that The Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance is a fantastic service and has helped & will continue to help many people, as well as the Cancer Research UK that is again a fantastic charity that makes a big difference to so many people and their families. We also decided to collect for Ukraine Crisis, we will let you know how much money we have raised.

Reverse engineering of components–
Above was a recent project that we got involved with and these parts have been reversed engineered from an original Lotus Formula One Car that had a Lamborghini engine, the parts had worn out and corroded beyond repair. So, we reverse engineered them into a CAD model for critical dimensions then re designed them for manufacture from billet instead of original casting to give exactly the same function and performance without the cost of re casting. The complete GBS in-house manufacturing and design facility enables you to benefit from a managed supply chain that ensure our products are delivered consistently to the high-quality standard you expect. We design, manufacture and produce in house as much as we can including the Zero Chassis and Race (FIA) Chassis, Wishbones, Aluminium Body Panels, GRP Bodywork (choice of 9 colours) as well as a range of Carbon Fibre Bodywork panels, Suspension, Throttle Bodies, Brake Calipers, Exhaust System including Silencers & Manifolds, Fuel Tanks, Fuel Filler Caps and much more, below are just a few photographs of some of our favourite products that we manufacture. Our product range is not just for our Zero, its also suitable for a full range of other sports cars, we also have full workshop and design facilities enabling us to offer custom fabrication.

Jubilee GBS Run Out in the Zero’s…… Come & join us in your Zero!

Time to bring out your Zeros to celebrate our Queens Jubilee this year…… We are organising a fabulous ‘Jubilee GBS Run Out’ to show off bespoke British excellence in honour of our Queen. This is an invitation to all the GBS Zero owners out there to come and join us on this special occasion.

We love getting out in our Zero demonstrators when we can and we know you do too, so let us have more fun and drive together to a beautiful location via scenic countryside. Looking at a Zero on the road is exciting enough, imagine looking at us all together on the road!

The Queen’s 70th year as the Queen has given us another opportunity to show off in style and we want you to be a part of it. We are planning this to happen on the Bank Holiday weekend that is happening in June and plan for the Run Out to happen on Thursday 2nd June where we will meet at GBS to then go onto enjoy a drive out in the Zero’s together.

Students at the University of Nottingham playing their part here at GBS.....

We recently had a student from the University of Nottingham join us for a few months as an intern on our digital marketing and brand building project. We have been working with The University of Nottingham to offer Postgraduate placements at GBS, and last year we were delighted to welcome Sreeyesh Galla to the GBS Team. Sreeyesh who has now graduated from the university of Nottingham holds a MSc in entrepreneurship, innovation, and management.

With his strong background in design, digital marketing, and creative skills, he has developed valuable content for our twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube media handles. Helped Design T-shirts, posters, flyers, and other such documents for GBS.

Sreeyesh is in here at the factory 3 days a week and will continue to be in till the end of his placement in February. After which he plans to further pursue his career in the field of digital marketing. It has so far been a great experience of having students here at GBS. Not only are they gaining some valuable industry experience and exposure, but they also add creative value to the team here at GBS. This collaboration with the university of Nottingham is a great way to learn those desired skills and we are proud to say that Great British Sports Cars is one of those places where students can learn and grow to their fullest potential.

Few words from Sreeyesh about his placement………

“Firstly, as a car enthusiast I was more than delighted to be offered a placement with Great British sports cars. The learning for me has been vast and continuous in terms of skills, the business knowledge, and automobiles in general. I was very well received by the team here at GBS and that made my experience all the better. I had Two members of the team pick me up and drop me at the train station every day and I could not ask for more. Even during the busy days, they always took time out to teach and explain how things worked in detail. Answered all my questions patiently and that has been a great help to me, someone who is just starting my career. I was given complete creative freedom in creating the content for the social media handles and marketing adverts, which helped me learn through experimentation and creativity. The marketing head at GBS has been a patient teacher and a great guide. This placement has been a great learning experience and of great benefit to me career wise. Cannot wait to come back for the ‘Cars and Coffee’ event and witness a true British car manufacturer show off. Lastly I would like to thank GBS and the university of Nottingham for giving me this lovely opportunity”.

We are just in the process of offering another University of Nottingham student a Postgraduate placement in our Design and Engineering department and are looking at possibly offering more placement opportunities throughout the year.

The Zero Ultimate Self Build is a very popular Zero option that we offer and we recently had a very nice example of a customers Ultimate Zero Self Build with us in the workshop that we prepared and presented to IVA test. While this Zero was with us we thought we would do a short video talking over the car and talking through the options that we offer. The complete component build comes with all parts to a high specification and many options are included as standard giving you a exceptional and capable car out of the box. We are all looking forward to the year ahead, its normally a busy January and start to the year for the GBS Team as we are always busy preparing the GBS Zeros for our first event of the year which is the Autosport International Show. But sadly again this year that is not taking place due to Covid. The GBS 2022 event Calendar is looking a little different to previous years with not many events yet confirmed, but we will be soon listing the events that we are hoping to be at if they are able to go ahead. We are looking forward to our first GBS Cars & Coffee event which we have planned for March, which we will share more details on with you all soon. Busy in the GBS Machine Shop with lots of components in production....

The GBS Machine Shop is always busy with lots of products in production like the ATR Products Fuel Filler Caps, Suspension Components, Brake Components and much more. We have invested heavily in CNC machine tools, with the Hardinge 4 axis CNC milling machine and CNC Lathe and we have recently invested in more machinery and equipment which we will share more with you in the new year.

Our philosophy remains to design and manufacture critical and custom components in-house. This ensures the highest quality, control of costs and lead times. For those parts we do not manufacture and wherever possible we select local sources to streamline the management of our supply chain and our delivery commitments. The Kit Spares Showroom and shop has a full range of ATR Products on display for you to view and we are pleased to now have a dedicated ATR Products page on the Kit Spares website, where the ATR Products can all be viewed and purchased online and also instore.

2021 has been a very busy & successful year & we look forward to an exciting 2022.....

2021 has been another great year for the GBS team and we have been extremely busy. There are so many photo’s and experiences to share but here are just a few of our favourite photos and moments that we have captured during the year, next year is already looking like it’s going to be another very busy & exciting year for us with lots happening. We have lots of exciting things to share with you all in the new year!

This year we have seen a lot stunning Zeros come through the workshop that have been painted. Paint is now becoming one of our most popular options and upgrades.

Our engineering & fabrication department has been very busy with some exciting projects & development work. Next year looks to be busy and exciting too! Click here to read more about our GBS Engineering.

With the Covid restrictions in place, we only managed to organise one run out in the Zeros. It was a great day and everyone enjoyed it, we look forward to planning more Zero Run Outs next year.

Our Brand New parts website Kit Spares was launched in June this year, which is still growing with lots of new products and brands being added weekly. See more details here www.kitspares.co.uk

The Zero is available in LHD & is sold worldwide. In October Paul Barnes our USA Representative was at the Acura Grand Prix with the Zeros. See more details about the USA Zero options here.

Last month it was great to welcome Paul Barnes our USA representative back to GBS for a few days after over a year of not being able to visit due to Covid travel restrictions.

The Zero Motul Edition has been a fantastic project for us this year. The whole GBS Team has been involved with this and are very proud of it and excited about next years plans!

We have been able to host 3 of our GBS Cars & Coffee events this year, with big plans next year to do more of these events and more often. All are welcome to join in any car! #GBSCarsandcoffee

The Zero Motul Ediiton was on the main Motul Stand at this years Silverstone Classic Show, where it was revealed for the very first time. This was a fantastic time for the team.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Christmas GBS Cars & Coffee event......

THANK YOU to everyone who joined us on Saturday (4th December) for our Christmas GBS Cars & Coffee event, it was so nice to see everyone and have a car park full of sports cars, there was a good variety of cars to look at. All cars are welcome at our Cars & Coffee events not just Zeros.

Also a big Thank you again to Dobbins Converted Horse Box Hire for letting us have their horse box to serve our refreshments from, refreshment are free, and we always collect for our two great charities…. The Notts & Lincs Air Ambulance & Cancer Research. Once we know how much money we have raised for the charities we will let you know.
