Cars & Coffee - Saturday 26th June

It nearly time for our first GBS Cars & Coffee event of the year, we have waited a long time and we are looking forward to seeing you all and welcoming you back to GBS on Saturday 26th June (10am-2pm).

We want you to feel safe and enjoy the day, so we'll be observing the following safety measures throughout the event;

• You must wear Face Masks at all times when inside the building and Kit Spares Showroom.

• The Kit Spares Shop will be open 10am – 2pm on the day. - www.kitspares.co.uk
  (Please call 01623 860990 to order before if you can, then we can prepare and get your order ready to collect on the day to avoid delay)

• You will be required to use the NHS app to check into our Showroom upon arrival, so please ensure you've downloaded it in advance.

• There will be capacity limits within the GBS and Kit Spares Shop and Showroom.

• We will not be doing any test drives in our Zero demonstrators on the day.

• The GBS Workshop will be open to view cars, but capacity will be limited and Face Masks must be worn.

• The event is outside and social distance will be easily attainable. Please follow the social distance rules, we will have hand sanitiser stations inside and outside.

• Light Refreshments will be provided and will be outside. (Tea, Coffee and Biscuits)

• Refreshments are free, but we ask for donations to help our chosen charities Cancer Research and The Notts & Lincs Air Ambulance.

• If you feel unwell, have a high temperature, or a new persistent cough, please do not attend.

• We look forward to welcoming you all back and seeing you all on Saturday 26th June.

Its happening the date for the GBS Cars & Coffee is confirmed....

Saturday 26th June

We are excited to share with you all that we have now confirmed the new date for the first 2021 GBS Cars & Coffee event, which will be taking place on Saturday 26th June at GBS from 10am-2pm.

As many of you know everyone at GBS has a strong passion for cars and anything to do with motorsport and we love our Cars & Coffee events and Track Days etc. But sadly, last year (2020) and earlier this year we have not been able to host and exhibit at any events due to Covid-19.

But as the lockdown restrictions are now easing and we are slowly getting back to normality we felt now is the right time to host our popular Cars & Coffee event at GBS.

The GBS Cars & Coffee event at GBS was created in 2016 and has since been a massive success & we have continued to hold the event again for several years. Our Cars & Coffee ( & Cake) events often see our car park overflowing with many different sports cars, the event is also becoming renowned for its home made cakes!
Its an event that we have created that gives the chance for you all to have a ride out in your sports cars / meeting point and enjoy a coffee (plus biscuits/ cake of course) and chat about your cars, all are welcome to join us in any car (modern or classic including bikes).

Help us make Saturday 26th June the best GBS Cars & Coffee event yet & raise more money for two great charities…. We will be collecting for the Notts & Lincs Air Ambulance & Cancer Research.

On the day the Kit Spares shop and showroom ( www.kitspares.co.uk ) will be open 10am -1pm, with social distancing and restriction on numbers entering at one time. Please feel free to call and pre order ready to collect on the day.

We’ll be adhering to the latest Covid-19 guidelines, and will do all we can to make sure the event can go ahead safely. All the GBS team look forward to seeing you all.

First 2021 Run Out in the Zeros..... Thank you for joining us.

Last Saturday (1st May) we enjoyed a run out in the Zero’s, where we all met at GBS in the car park to then enjoy a drive out together. The route that we planned was similar to last years run out covering around 50 miles, which was through some lovely villages and country roads finishing in a nice idyllic location in the countryside where we took the opportunity to enjoy some food. The weather was perfect for us and the rain held off, we would like to thank you all for joining us and making it such an enjoyable day.

GBS Run Out in the Zero’s…… Come & join us in your Zero!

We have really missed hosting and exhibiting at events last year and we will soon be announcing our GBS Cars & Coffee date. But for now we are pleased to be looking to arrange a run out in the Zero’s which we would like to invite all our Zero owners to join us on.

We are planning this to happen on Saturday 1st May where we will meet at GBS to then enjoy a drive out in the Zero’s together. Covering around 50 miles finishing in a nice idyllic location in the countryside, it will be a similar route to the one that we did last year. We will be following social distancing rules and to avoid a large gathering in one place we will be meeting outside in the GBS Car Park where you will be in your Zero.

Date for the diary…… Monday 12th April - The GBS and Kit Spares Shop and Showroom open.
We will be operating appointment only visits to see the Zeros, so please contact us today to book your appointment. We cannot wait to reopen and welcome people back through the doors. Please note, these dates are subject to change according to government guidelines. We will keep you updated.

GBS Cars & Coffee event update..... Postponed not cancelled.

New date will be confirmed soon….

GBS Cars & Coffee is postponed…… It’s the news that we hoped not to bring you. But with the ongoing Covid 19 restrictions it is impossible to go ahead with our first GBS Cars and Coffee event of 2021 that we had planned to take place on Saturday 27th March. 

But with the great news that the lockdown will slowly be lifted, we are pleased to confirm that we are now planning for it to happen a little later in the year. We will be releasing a new event date very soon, and do all that we can to make sure the event can go ahead safely and follow the government guidelines. So keep checking our event page for updates. In the meantime keep safe and we will all get together with the Zeros and other sports cars later this year to enjoy lots of coffee and cakes!

Nearly a year old and has covered many enjoyable miles.... Plus more filming at GBS.....

This stunning Zero factory build has been enjoyed on the road for almost a year now...... Covering many enjoyable miles on the road and track. Many of you may have seen it if you visited our stand at the Autosports Show last year, as it was on display along side our Zero demonstrator. Its of similar spec to our Gen 2 Zero demonstrator which is powered by the 2.5 Ford Duratec engine….

This Zero that is owned by Robin Copley is of very nice spec, it is - Sport Chassis , Painted Mercedes Polar White, 2.5 Duratec Engine, Power 200 - 350 bhp, 5 Speed manual gearbox, Carbon Dash with Smiths Flight Gauges, Carbon Fibre Finishing panels, DRL Style Headlights, ATR Adjustable Suspension, ATR Brakes Front: ATR 300mm floating discs 4 pot caliper, Rear: Disc & Caliper Upgraded.

We look forward to seeing Robin in his Zero later this year at our GBS events and track days, where we hope you will all join us too.

It has been a very strange year for us all, but together we have got through it and still had some great times….

2020 has been a very strange year for us all and Covid-19 has put many of our plans that we all had on hold. But together as a team and with your support we have got through it and still had a successful year. Here are just a few of our favourites moments that we have captured during the year, next year we are hoping will be a much better year for us all and we look forward to enjoying the Zero’s with you all.

The Autosport International and Race Retro were the only two events that the Zero was seen at this year. We look forward to seeing you all next year at many events.

We were pleased to welcome Will to join GBS as our new apprentice. Will is mainly based in our workshop but has spent time in other areas of GBS to get an understanding of what we do.

We had a great time working with the MTDCNC team filming for their 200th Swarf and Chip show which we featured in. We filmed at both the GBS Factory & Blyton Park Circuit - Find out how a British Sports Car is Made…. Click here to see the video.

Our Brand New Gen 2 Zero Demonstrator was released in March this year. Our Zero demonstrator is very high spec with a lot of optional extras and upgrades.

Customer Peer Moberg LHD Zero registered in Norway, the Zero is available in LHD & is sold worldwide. Several other Zero’s also registered in USA.

We were excited to be finalists in the Business Innovation category for this year’s Newark Business Awards. The awards evening is happening on Zoom, we will share with you how we get on later this month!

Autumn Run Out in the Zero’s, we are pleased that we had the opportunity to have a run out in the Zero’s safely. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed around 50 miles through lovely villages & country roads. We look forward to doing it again next year.

We enjoyed a day at Blyton Park Track with the Car Crowd for their launch event. We can’t wait to do more corporate track events and track days with the Zero’s.

Its been a busy year for Zero Factory Builds, with many more currently in production that will be completed and registered in 2021.

Its been a busy year for Zero kit collections and exports. We have been doing deliveries as well as collections to make things easier and safer. We have also seen Zero’s go to Canada, Sweden, France, USA.

Our final event of the year is always our GBS Christmas Cars & Coffee event, unfortunately it will not be happening this year. BUT we are all very much looking forward to our 2021 GBS Cars & Coffee event that we plan to happen on Saturday 27th March at GBS.

So we hope that 2021 will be a better year for us all and that our Cars & Coffee event will be able to go ahead.

The Zero…. Find out how a British Sports Car Is Made #swarfandchips 200th Episode.

We are excited to have been featured in the 200th Swarf & Chip Show which was seen live on their YouTube last month on 23rd October. In this very special 200th Swarf & Chips show the MTDCNC and Swarf & Chip team visited us at GBS to find out how our beautiful cars are manufactured from fabrication, CNC machining and all the way to the final assembly. We then took the Zero’s to Blyton Park race track for a Swarf and Chips fastest lap competition! On Saturday (24th October) we enjoyed a run out in the Zero’s where we all met at GBS in the car park to then enjoy a drive out in the Zero’s together. The route that we planned was around 50 miles which was through some lovely villages and country roads finishing in a nice idyllic location in the countryside where we took the opportunity to take some photos. The weather was perfect for us and the rain held off until late afternoon, we would like to thank you all for joining us and making it such an enjoyable morning.

We have really missed hosting and exhibiting at events this year and we can’t wait until we can do more hopefully next year. But we are pleased that we had the opportunity to have a run out in the Zero’s safely and we look forward to doing it again soon. Filming at GBS with MTDCNC for their Swarf & Chip 200th Anniversary.....

Earlier this month we welcomed the MTDCNC team to GBS to do some filming for their Swarf & Chip 200th episode which can be seen this Friday. They spent most of the day with us filming around the GBS Factory including the GBS Machine Shop and Workshop.

Last week we spent the day at Blyton Park Race Circuit with the MTDCNC team filming the Zero’s out on the track for their Swarf & Chips 200th episode that can later this week. We took with us our two Zero demonstrators and each of the team did a lap to see who could get the fastest time, as well all being taken out for fast laps with the GBS Team. We are pleased to also be featured as a case study on Cadspec website to see how Autodesk Software is used within GBS, click here to see more. We also look forward to working with Cadspec and Autodesk next month when they will be visiting us to do some filming with all the GBS Team.

So we thought we would plan for 2021 and have something for us to look forward too, when hopefully the Covid-19 situation will be better and things are back to more normality. We will confirm next year that this event is safe to happen, but we hope you will be able to join us, we can’t wait to see you all and welcome you back!

We are excited to be finalist in the Newark Business Awards....

We are excited to be finalists in the Business Innovation category for this year’s Newark Business Awards. Last month the finalists in the ten categories for the Newark Business Awards were revealed and we were delighted to be selected as one of the finalist for the Business Innovation Category. Next month the judges will be interviewing the team and then the decision of the overall winners for each category will be announced at the Awards Ceremony in October at Newark Showground. Zero out on the track & something a little different in the workshop.....

It was nice to receive these action photographs ( Photogrpahy by @frozenspeed ) from Ivan and David who recently enjoyed their Zero Race on a track day at Spa, where they said there Zero Race performed really well. Ivan and David often join us on our GBS Track Days and we look forward to seeing them again very soon on the next GBS Track Days. The GBS Workshop is always busy and we often have a nice selection of Zeros in there, but this week we have something a little different in the GBS workshop. We have this Repco Brabham with us for engine, electrical and custom works, the owner also has a Zero and we look forward to completing the work on this Brabham then testing it out on the track. Run out in the Zero demonstrator to Caffeine & Machine….

On Saturday we had an early start with a run out in the Zero demonstrator to the Caffeine Machine which is based in Warwickshire. The coffee house has a licence bar and restaurant, boutique and art gallery, we have heard a lot of good things about this venue, and we were pleased to finally have been able to visit.

It attracts all sorts of sports cars, classic restorations, bikes and much more. On arrival you are greeted by the team and directed to where to park. We were allocated prime location in front of the house and the Zero attracted a lot of attention whist it was parked up. We look forward to going back again soon and planning a trip for you all to join us in your Zero’s.

It was a great drive in our Zero demonstrator that is powered by a 2.5 Duratec, the weather was perfect with a few black clouds which passed, we managed to miss the rain!

GBS Team enjoy an evening at Cadwell Park with the Zero....

Earlier this week our Zero Mazda demonstrator was busy being prepared for a track day. The GBS Team enjoyed an evening at Cadwell Park with the Zero, its been a busy few months for all the team and it was nice to have an afternoon / evening all together enjoying the Zero and other cars out on the track.

We had two GBS track days booked earlier this year at Blyton Park and Donington Park but due to Covid-19 they were both cancelled. Its great that the circuits are now re open and hopefully spectators will be allowed back soon. We look forward to being back out on the track with you all in your Zero’s hopefully later this year. Zero’s out on the Race Track at Blyton Park for private event…..

If you follow us on Instagram ( @gbs_cars ) you may have seen a few behind the scenes photographs of several Zero’s at Blyton Park earlier this month…. We organised a corporate day and hired the Blyton Park race circuit for exclusive use for the Zero’s. This was in conjunction with TheCarCrowd who are building the UK’s first crowd funding platform for classic cars, see more details about TheCarCrowd here. This was the launch event for TheCarCrowd and it’s was also the release of our new Zero demonstrator that people could experience on the day. TheCarCrowd guests enjoyed passenger laps with the GBS team in our new Zero demonstrator and Zero Race car then they were given the opportunity to drive themselves in our Zero Mazda demonstrator.
We were also joined by many guests throughout the day including Sam Pinkham who is the early breakfast presenter for Virgin Radio UK, our local MP Mark Spencer who all enjoyed their experience out on the track in the Zero’s. At the end of the day we had a drag race between Electric v Petrol….. Which do you think would WIN a drag race between a Tesla Model S and our GBS Zero? We will share the results and video with you all soon!

It was a great day, enjoyed by all and we look forward to hosting more days like this in the future. We would also like to thank Aireshelta Products for providing the tent shelter for the day and Delilah Fine Foods in Nottingham for providing the food for us all to enjoy.

GBS Track Day update: We currently have two GBS Track Days booked, at Blyton Park on Saturday 18th April and at Donignton Park on Friday 15th May. Both Track Days are via javelin Track Days and we are sorry to say that our Track Day at Blyton Park on Saturday 18th April is cancelled, Javelin Track Days events are now all suspended until 30th April 2020. If any of you have booked on already, please visit our event page with a link to details and options that are available to you. We will keep you updated about our GBS Track Day at Donnington Park in May and other events that we have planned for this year.

GBS Cars & Coffee event update: Coronavirus

We have had several emails, phone calls regarding the happening our GBS Cars & Coffee that we have planned to take this Saturday (21st March) at the GBS Factory, so we would like to update you with our decision.

19/03/2020 - 10.00am: GBS Cars & Coffee event this Saturday (21st March) update -
This morning the GBS Team have made the decision to all be at the Factory on Saturday (21st March) from 10am - 2pm should you wish to still join us. We are changing the format in line with government advice, but we do ask that if anyone has any symptoms of the virus or are vulnerable, we ask you not to attend.

We appreciate your patience and continued support in these turbulent times.
Small and independent businesses value your continued support now more than ever.
We will certainly be doing all we can to support our suppliers & partners in this time and most importantly look after our customers and staff.

Our parts shop Kit Spares will be open, but we ask if possible please call (telephone 01623 860990) before the day to place your order then we can prepare it ready for you to just collect on the day. You can still purchase on the day if you wish, but we are just trying to reduce contact and make the day run smoothly.

We will be doing more Cars & Coffee events later in the year, so you won’t be missing out if you can’t join us.

If you wish to join us we look forward to seeing you, but if you decide not to then we fully understand and hopefully you can join us next time.
